A music player that looks like nothing else on your phone. Your files, your own server, YouTube Music and independent radio, in one place. Nothing to pay, ever.

Picked by people, not a feed

INK is where to find something new: ink weekly, what we're listening to at ink, every Friday night; the record of the day; what critics and DJs are picking right now (Pitchfork, Bandcamp Daily, NPR, the Quietus and more); what's out this Friday; festivals coming up; moods made by ink. Every song plays from your own copy when you have it, and from YouTube Music when you don't.

Made for you, from your listening alone

Fresh finds, deep cuts, loved long ago, a year ago today, new to you, and what's new from your artists at the top of listen. Worked out on your phone, from what you play.

Your music, from wherever it lives

The phone's files, filed by record and artist, FLAC and hi-res as they are. No cover? It finds one.

Your own server: Navidrome or any Subsonic server, your whole library from home, or kept on the phone for no signal. Loves are its stars and playlists its playlists, so every app agrees.

YouTube Music: search and play without an account. Signed in: your playlists, likes, mixes and uploads, both ways, Premium's 256 kbps if you have it, and songs kept offline.

Spotify playlists, brought in from a file, each song found in your music or on YouTube Music.

ink radio: sixty-odd listener-powered stations chosen by hand, KEXP to NTS to Radio alHara, each saying what it's playing.

The player

Whole-screen over the cover in five looks: blur, fluted glass, pixels, dither, plain. Circle the cover to scrub, as on an iPod.

Synced lyrics, big, over the cover.

It says exactly what you're hearing: lossless, hi-res, the bit depth and rate.

An equalizer with tunings for thousands of headphones (AutoEq), even volume (ReplayGain), soft pause.

Play on Chromecast and Nest speakers, TVs and DLNA receivers, hi-res where they take it. No Google Play services needed.

Android Auto, a home-screen widget, a sleep timer that eases the music out.

And on your computer

ink music for Mac, Windows and Linux, in the same look. Pair your phone once and the two keep in step over your wifi: what you've heard, what you love, your sign-ins. Start a record on one, pick it up on the other.

Yours

Your year, any day of it. Artist pages with their photo in dither, top songs and their story. Scrobbling to ListenBrainz and Last.fm. Private listening, when you'd rather it wasn't kept.

Free, and private

No ads, no accounts, no tracking, no paywall, ever. Free and open source (GPL-3.0). Nothing of yours leaves the phone except to your own server, your own computer on your wifi, and the services that answer what you ask for: lyrics from lrclib.net, your searches (and, signed in, your plays) to YouTube Music, covers and picks from the catalogs and publications. What you've played stays on your devices.
